Livy's account of the conflict with Collatia, like his account of Apiolae in 5.4.1b, has been called into question. But the monuments he refers to still stand, and most date to the sixth century BCE.

He took the Sabine city of Collatia and the part of its territory that was closer to Rome. Egerius, the king's nephew, was left there to guard it […] Now he also prepared to surround Rome with a stone wall,37 which it didn't have yet. The work had already begun, but it was halted by the Sabine war. He also drained the lowest parts of the city, around the Forum and other valleys between the hills. These areas couldn't drain effectively because they were flat. He did it with a sewer38 that led from the highest point down to the Tiber.

He also laid foundations for the shrine of Jupiter on the Capitol.39 He had vowed this temple in war with the Sabines, and already in his mind could foresee the future size of the place to come.
